The route between Sydney and Singapore, operated by Singapore Airlines is getting a huge upgrade. A second daily Airbus A380 flight is beginning on Sunday.

Big increase in capacity

Adding a second daily A380 service will boost the capacity of the Kingsford Smith International (SYD) – Singapore Changi (SIN) route substantially. The current Boeing 777–300ER has a seating capatity of 278, while the A380 can accommodate up to 471 passengers. These extra 193 seats mean that additional 140,000 passengers a year can be transported.

Sydney airport welcomes the A380

Kingsford Smith International (SYD) airport is one of the busiest, in terms of Airbus A380 traffic. Substantial investments have been made to accomodate this huge airliner. With the recently announced upgrade, a total of 84 weekly A380 departures and landings will be handled.
